Once a year we’re able to honor the amazing woman in our lives that have raised and nurtured us. It is our chance to give thanks to our mother’s for providing us with endless advice, love and support. My own mother is one of the most inspiring and special people in my life. She is my rock and the life lessons she has instilled in me have shaped how I approach my life. Today we celebrate and appreciate the importance of the job that mother’s everywhere do.
In honor of Mother’s Day I had the opportunity to photograph two local yoga instructors with the newest member or their families. Michelle Bourque and Cookie Harrison use their love of yoga to reinforce the bonds of motherhood through Post Natal or Mom and Baby yoga. Michelle described the experience as, “ a healthy way of bonding with my baby and getting in shape at the same time. The interactions of the practice help with my baby’s learning process and leave us both feeling relaxed.”
Michelle combines her love and experience as a mother with her knowledge of yoga by teaching a community Mom and Baby class at Home Yoga in Lower Queen Anne. The class provides a relaxed environment where you can meet other moms, get exercise and tend freely to the needs of your baby. More information about Pre or Post Natal classes can be found at http://organicmovements.com/. Cookie currently teaches classes in West Seattle at 8 Limbs Yoga Studio and 24-Hour Fitness. Both woman are amazing and inspiring mother’s and yoga instructors!
Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for all that you do!
